How to Prepare for Your First Facial
Booking your first facial is exciting, and a little preparation helps you enjoy every minute of it. Here's how to get ready for your first visit to Body & Glow Spa in Springfield, from choosing a treatment to what to do in the days before and after.
Choose a starting point
Think about the one thing you'd most like to focus on: breakouts, dullness, dryness, firmness, or simply a relaxing reset. Then pick the facial that sounds closest:
- Acne Facial: 60 min, $150
- Brightening Facial: 60 min, $150
- Vitamin C Hydrating Facial: 60 min, $150
- Ageless Facial: 60 min, $150
- Teen Facial: 60 min, $85
If you can't decide, book the one that feels closest and share your goals when you book.
A few days before
Unless your esthetician tells you otherwise, hold off on at-home scrubs, peels and strong exfoliating products for a few days before your visit. Avoid waxing, threading or other facial hair removal right before your facial, too.
Try not to arrive with a fresh sunburn. If you do get one, let us know before your appointment, since your esthetician may suggest a different day.
What to mention to your esthetician
It helps to have a few things about your skin and routine in mind:
- The products you use morning and night.
- Any prescription skincare, such as a retinoid, or medications that affect your skin.
- Allergies or sensitivities, including to fragrance.
- Recent treatments such as peels, injectables or laser.
- What you'd most like to focus on.
Booking your visit
You can book online anytime, or call (571) 501-6522. When you book, mention that it's your first facial and share anything you'd like your esthetician to know ahead of time.
Curious about a peel down the road? Ask about it at your visit. Ask at your visit whether it's a good fit for your skin.
On the day
Please arrive about 10 minutes early to fill out a brief intake form, so your treatment time is all yours. You'll find us at 6434 Brandon Ave #208, Springfield, VA 22150.
Coming with a bare face is easiest, but don't worry if you're heading over straight from work. Every facial begins with cleansing. Wear something comfortable, bring a hair tie if your hair is long, and consider leaving necklaces and large earrings at home.
During your facial
Your visit begins with a conversation about your skin and your goals, and you can always speak up if anything feels too warm, too firm or uncomfortable. If you'd rather just rest quietly, that's welcome, too.
Afterward
Your skin may look a little pink for a short while, which is common. For the rest of the day, keep things simple: a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen if you're heading outside, and light or no makeup if you can. Follow any aftercare you're given for your treatment.
Before you leave, ask how often to come back for your skin and your goals.
